A Hymn for Independence Day
Jul 04, 2023It's Independence Day here in America. Is there a hymn for that? Absolutely.
In fact there are a many when you let the freedom we have in America remind you of the greater freedom we have in Christ. You can go the clearly patriotic route if you wish. America the Beautiful is a prayerful hymn of gratitude for our country asking for God's grace for continued freedom. We have so much to celebrate today!
Or you can let your mind wander through all the hymns we have that celebrate our freedom in Christ. How many can you think of?
One hymn that came to my mind is Once for All.
Once for All
by Philip Bliss
Free from the law, O happy condition,
Jesus hath bled, and there is remission;
Cursed by the law and bruised by the fall,
Grace hath redeemed us once for all.
Chorus:
Once for all, O sinner, receive it,
Once for all, O friend, now believe it;
Cling to the cross, the burden will fall,
Christ hath redeemed us once for all.
Now we are free, there's no condemnation,
Jesus provides a perfect salvation;
"Come unto Me," O hear His sweet call,
Come, and He saves us once for all.
"Children of God," O glorious calling,
Surely His grace will keep us from falling;
Passing from death to life at His call,
Blessed salvation once for all.
