A Hymn for Doing the Laundry

Laundry Day is typically Monday at my house and it usually spreads over the course of a day (if not longer). 

It's not because there's a lot. it's just the two of us.

But because it involves several trips up and down the stairs to the basement to start the wash, rotate the wash, put in a new load, etc. 

And I find it hard to pull away from other work I'm doing to "make another trip!" 

But I absolutely love the smell and feel of warm, clean clothes, towels and sheets at the end of the day.

It's a decent reward after the effort I put in. 

There's another kind of cleaning that requires zero effort on our part. And it doesn't last the better part of the day either.

It's instant!

I'm talking about the cleansing of our sin that happens the moment we accept God's gift of salvation. In an instant the righteousness of Christ becomes ours!

And yes, there's a hymn for that. And it's perfect to remember every time you do laundry.

Whiter Than Snow

Lord Jesus, I long to be perfectly whole;
